Commander Horatio Hornblower, captain of HMS Hotspur, and Maria Mason are married. Admiral Pellew arrives and gives Hornblower his next mission: HMS Grasshopper, commanded by old friend Captain Bracegirdle, has gone missing while on patrol off the coast of France. Hornblower is to find her. Pellew gives Hornblower permission to sleep ashore so he can be with his bride on their honeymoon night.
This ends Hornblower. Due to a lack of donations,
we are unable to bring you at this time. The classic version
of Captain Horatio Hornblower,
starring Gregory Peck and Virginia Mayo.
Captain Horatio Hornblower - Trailer
Screen legend GREGORY PECK brings to life C.S. Forester's classic nautical hero, Horatio Hornblower. In 1807, unflappable Capt. Hornblower of the British Navy is sent on a secret mission to divert Napoleon's Spanish allies by sponsoring a megalomaniac's Central American revolution. After a hard voyage, unexpected complications force Hornblower to revise his plans...and play reluctant host to the beautiful sister of the Duke of Wellington. Sea-battles, remarkable adventures, and a star-crossed romantic interlude follow.
I loathe the 2008 remake, it skews too far from the original.
While using the same name, at least The Day
The Earth Stopped. Can claim to be a different take on it.
Not some multi-million dollar remake, they tell us is better.
This movie was a failure from the start. The horrible writing was
only made worse, by the fact that everyone in the movie was miscast.
Combine that with the lame music no one remembers, and D movie effects.
That could easily be surpassed by teens in a garage.
I can't glorify cinematic this trash, by even calling it a dumpster fire.
This being forced to watch old wallpaper dry, to elevator music that puts us partially to sleep. But tortures us enough, to keep us awake in that misery for about an hour and half.
THIS WAS TIME I'LL NEVER GET BACK!
10 Things You Didn't Know About Day the Earth Stood Still
We Didn't Start the Fire, is a perfect example. Of what separates the greatness of
the original film, and the 2008 debacle/remake. In stripping away our perspective of childhood innocence, for today's arrogant cynicism. Couldn't have been more wrong in this case. It would be like replacing Judy Garland in The Wizard of OZ 1934, with Dianna Ross from the WIZ 1978.
The original Day The Earth Stood Still, was a warning for them and future generations. That when we travel to distant worlds, to leave the ignorance of our preconceived ideas, hate, and savageness of humanity on Earth. Not Noah's Ark!
