Jack Tyson is a young man partaking in an illegal Mexico to California car race when a desperate woman, fleeing from her abusive gangster boyfriend who is financing the tournament, jumps into his car pleading for his help and who has an incriminating USB drive that could send her thug boyfriend, among others, to prison.

Starting with the 1975 Cult Classic, death race 2000. I have every movie in this franchise on dvd. Along with The Fast and Furious Movies. This however, is not part of either one. This is one of those #WhatSouldHaveBeenGreat,  starts of good and independent series of movies posts. They spent way too much on DMX in this film, for what he did without fighting or rapping was good. His fee should have gone to more cars, better actors, and rewrite of the script. They spent so much time, trying to rip off The Transporter and The Fast and Furious Franchises. That they buried a good movie in it. Spoilers if you haven't watched it yet. They gave PTSD and flashbacks to the wrong brother. As I cared nothing for the younger brother when he died. More cars would have added to the dynamic of an actual race, unless they were drag racing. Giving each driver a short back story, would have fleshed out these 2 dimensional characters. Besides the money, we would know how and why they were there. They really needed some junk car bodies, to match the rentals. So that stunt drivers could have added more and better action scenes. It needed more guns, thugs and some explosions. It needed more racers, and in car deaths. In the right hands, this would have been great.
