Avatar Of Mars (Original Title) - When a soldier in the Middle East gets wounded in the line of duty, he is teleported to the planet Barsoom, where he faces hostile aliens and fights for his survival.
AKA - Princess of Mars
Avatar of Mars and John Carter, are two takes on the same book series.
John Carter of Mars is a fictional Virginian soldier who acts as the initial protagonist of the Barsoom stories by Edgar Rice Burroughs. A veteran of the American Civil War, he is transported to a fantastical realm called Barsoom, located on Mars, where he becomes a warrior battling various mythological beasts, alien armies, and malevolent foes. First created in 1911, the character has appeared in novels and short stories, comic books, television shows, and films, including the 2012 feature film John Carter, which marked the 100th anniversary of the character's first appearance.
A Princess of Mars Review & Retrospective
Everything Wrong With John Carter In 15 Minutes Or Less
These are the reasons why Avatar of Mars and John Carter both failed.
The script, cast, and directing were wrong. First, the writers tried to
squeeze too much into one movie. It should have broken up like Star Wars,
The Hobbit, and Lord of The Rings. The characters need enough time to develop.
The casting was so bad, as the audience couldn't feel empathy for the main characters.
The pacing was horrible. This was a windup record player, trying to play a 78, set on 45.
In the back of a work truck, with bad shocks. Speeding over and old cobbles stone road.
The buck stops with the director, whomever was in charge of these shit shows. Should be made to give their salaries back, along with reimburse the studios in full for their losses. Anyone could tell, both that movies were off the damn rails from the start. This was the grandfather of all science fiction, everything we know and love came from this book series, and we this.
